Question:

hi peter,
on my samsung smt 190dn i can't seem to figure out the remote viewing. i've watched tutorial videos for remote viewing and tried everything for the past 3 hours and still cant figure it out.
i'm wondering if it has anything to do with my router...i have suddenlink high speed internet and the cable compandy supplied me with the router and it is both a cable modem and wireless router.
it is the SMC 8014WN WAN/LAN
i would greatly appreciate some help, thanks

Answer:

The short answer is Port Forwarding. That is basically opening up a port on our router that will allow to to access your DVR remotely.

Here is a link to my answer to How Do I view my security camera DVR remotely?

That link will tell you more about it. How you set up port forwarding will vary a little by each router that is out there but you should be able to find instructions for it.

Great question!

Thanks,
